Four candles
Four candles were burning slowly.
- I am Peace - said the first candle - but in our times, people cannot keep me. And the flame of Peace slowly began to extinguish until it disappeared completely.
The second murmured:
- I am Faith, but people no longer want to hear about me, they do not seek me and do not need me. And its flame also ceased to burn.
The third declared:
- I am Love, and I don't have enough strength to continue burning. People ignore me and do not understand how important I am. They don't even love their closest ones. And without waiting any longer, Love went out.
Suddenly, a child entered the room and saw that three of the candles had gone out.
- Why aren't you burning? - the child cried. - You were supposed to burn to the end.
Then the fourth candle spoke gently to the child:
- Don't be afraid, I am Hope. As long as I burn, you can always light the other three candles again.
With eyes shining, the child took the Candle of Hope and lit the other three candles.
