What is poverty?
Once, the father of a wealthy family decided to take his son to the countryside to show him what poverty is. They spent a night at the farm of a very poor family.
- That was an incredible journey, Dad! - exclaimed the son after returning.
- Did you see how poor people can be? - the father asked.
- Yes, I saw.
- And what lesson did you take from that?
- I saw that we have one dog at home, and they have four. We have a pool in the middle of our garden, and they have a bay with no end in sight. We light up our garden with lamps, while the stars shine for them. In our backyard, there is a patio, but they have the entire horizon. I realized that only the poorest people can own what cannot be bought.
